The University of Vermont announced a $20-million contribution from the family philanthropy of businessman and alumnus Steven Grossman, the Burlington Free Press reports. The money will endow three academic chairs and support other programs at what has been renamed the Grossman School of Business.
The gift was made through the Connecticut-based Grossman Family Foundation. Mr. Grossman, a 1961 Vermont graduate and a member of the UVM Foundation board, was the CEO of Southern Container Corporation, a family-owned maker of packaging materials that was sold in 2008. The university announced the launch Friday of a $500-million campaign that will run through mid-2018.
