$20-Million Grant Supports Cancer-Research Projects

The Commonwealth Foundation for Cancer Research on Wednesday announced a $20 million grant over five years to the Bridge Project, which funds joint cancer research projects, reports Stat, a new publication from Boston Globe Media Partners.

The grant will support research teams from the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT and the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center with a goal of pushing more research projects into clinical trials.

Last year the Bridge Project, which started in 2011, awarded just over $2 million in grants to three research teams. The new grant should allow the project to at least double the amount of money given to scientists.
