$2.35 Million Charity Bid Wins Annual Lunch With Buffett

Chinese video-game developer Dalian Zeus Entertainment won Warren Buffett's annual charity lunch auction Friday, buying a steakhouse meal with the billionaire investor and philanthropist for $2.35 million, Bloomberg reports. The auction benefits the Glide Foundation, a San Francisco nonprofit that provides meals, affordable housing, and counseling for the city's needy.

Dalian Zeus will pay about $200,000 more than last year's winner, Singaporean Andy Chua, to bring up to seven friends to dine with Mr. Buffett at New York steakhouse Smith & Wollensky, but its offer fell well short of the record $3.46 million paid in 2012 by an anonymous bidder. The auction has raised more than $20 million for Glide since Mr. Buffett launched it in 2000.
