$25-Million Gift Aids Minnesota College's Building Plan

Gustavus Adolphus College has received a $25-million donation supporting an overhaul of the St. Peter, Minn., campus's 53-year-old science building, Minnesota Public Radio reports. The anonymous gift will cover more than a third of the estimated cost of renovating the Alfred Nobel Hall of Science, a project now in the planning stages.

The contribution came from a Twin Cities family of three alumni of the private college. About a quarter of the school's 2,400 students graduate with science degrees. A Gustavus spokesman called the gift a "cornerstone" in a fundraising campaign set to wrap up this fall.
