$30 Million Donation Boosts Nursing Program at NYU

New York University is receiving $30 million from industrialist Howard Meyers and his wife, Rose-Marie, to support nursing students who are putting themselves through college or are the first members of their families to reach higher education, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Most of the gift, announced Friday, will fund scholarships, with a smaller share devoted to faculty and academic support. NYU's nursing school will be renamed for Ms. Meyers, who worked in the profession in government and the private sector. Mr. Meyers, the head of Dallas-based metals company Quexco, is a graduate of NYU's Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a university trustee.
