$35 Million Gift Establishes Harvard Early-Childhood Program

The Harvard Graduate School of Education will launch an intensive effort to research and support early-childhood education with a $35.5 million donation from the Saul Zaentz Charitable Foundation, Harvard Magazine writes.

The Saul Zaentz Early Childhood Initiative will expand Harvard’s research and teaching in the early-education field. “The initiative will take the evidence about the benefits of pre-K and build capacity in the field to make sure high-quality pre-K is available to all kids,” said James Ryan, dean of the Graduate School of Education. The late Mr. Zaentz was an Oscar-winning film producer and record-company executive.
