The Meadows Foundation, a longtime donor to Southern Methodist University, is giving another $45 million to support the campus’s arts school and art museum, reports The Dallas Morning News. The contribution is the biggest in unadjusted dollars to the Dallas institution and the largest made by the foundation, which has now given $145 million to SMU, much of it benefiting the Meadows Museum and Meadows School of the Arts.
The foundation was established in 1948 by Dallas businessman and philanthropist Algur Meadows. Of the new grant, announced Monday, $25 million will go to the museum, primarily for exhibitions, acquisitions, and education programs. The arts school’s $20-million share is focused on facility improvements and recruiting and retaining students and faculty.
