A New York businessman and his wife, who dated while studying at the College of Holy Cross but did not marry until 40 years later, have donated $32.5 million to the Worcester, Mass., school, writes The Wall Street Journal.
The gift from John Luth and Joanne Chouinard-Luth, announced Tuesday, will support renovation and expansion of the campus field house and other aging athletics facilities that is set to begin next year.
Mr. Luth, a Holy Cross trustee, is the founder and CEO of Seabury Group, an aviation consulting firm. He and Dr. Chouinard-Luth, a dentist and nutritionist, were college sweethearts at Holy Cross in the early 1970s, but the relationship ended when both were graduate students at the University of Pennsylvania. They reconnected decades later, after marrying and divorcing other people, and wed in 2013.
