Arnold Foundation Gives $7 Million More to Drug-Price Fight

Billionaire philanthropists John and Laura Arnold are giving $7.2 million to fund research and pilot projects aimed at cutting the cost of prescription medications, their second significant contribution to that cause in seven months, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Four organizations, including one led by the prominent critic of drug pricing, will get Laura and John Arnold Foundation grants for efforts to rein in prescription costs and lower financial barriers for patients to obtain medications. The Houston couple gave $5.2 million last July to a Boston nonprofit that conducts evaluations of drugs' cost-effectiveness and suggests benchmark prices.
