Arts Philanthropy Teams With Jeff Koons for U.N. Fundraiser

Sculptor Jeff Koons will create a series of pieces to be auctioned off to raise money for the United Nations Foundation in the first of a planned series of artists' collaborations with a new philanthropic group, writes The New York Times. The partnership kicks of Project Perpetual, which will work with a different artist each year to generate funding for humanitarian causes.

The Koons works—one large and three to five small sculptures made of materials from luxury handbags donated by celebrities and designers like Sofia Coppola and Diane von Furstenberg—will be sold at a New York dinner in November to benefit the U.N. Foundation's Shot@Life campaign, which fights measles, pneumonia, and other diseases among children.
