Australian Trader Donates $52-Million for Scholarships

A billionaire financier who earned law and economics degrees from the Australian National University has committed $52-million to pay for scholarships at his alma mater, The Canberra Times and the Australian Broadcasting Company report.

The gift from Graham Tuckwell, founder of trading firm ETF Securities, and his wife, Louise, is to be the largest single donation by an Australian citizen to a university in the country. It will cover full college costs for 25 new undergraduates a year and is intended to set up a permanent fellowship program akin to the Rhodes Scholarship.
