Boise State U. Gets $25-Million Gift for Science Program

The Micron Foundation has donated $25 million to support construction of a new building for Boise State University's materials science program, reports the Idaho Statesman.

The foundation is the charitable arm of Micron Technology, a Boise-based maker of advanced semiconductors. It previously donated $15 million to the Boise State materials science unit, including $2 million in launch funds in 2003. The new gift will cover nearly half the expected $55-million cost of the Center for Materials Research, which will house a lecture hall, classrooms, and research space.
