A Colorado man ordered to abstain from organizing charity events as part of a state fraud settlement was incarcerated Wednesday for running what authorities said was another bogus fundraiser, reports The Denver Post. Adam Shryock was sentenced to six months in jail for contempt of court following his second violation in a year of the July 2013 court order.
The state case arose from Mr. Shryock's sale of T-shirts and other items bearing the message Boobies Rock!, ostensibly to benefit breast-cancer charities. Authorities said he engaged in a similar effort last fall, hiring models to sell merchandise at bars and tailgating events. Buyers were told the sales supported two cancer charities, but a representative for one of the groups, Stupid Cancer, testified that it had not authorized Mr. Shryock to solicit on its behalf and did not get any money from him.
