British Businesses Gave Less to Charity in 2014 Than in 2013

Donations by Britain's largest companies declined by 17 percent in 2014 from the year before, The Financial Times writes, citing a report by the Charities Aid Foundation.

Forty companies on the Financial Times Stock Exchange 100 Index reduced their donations by a combined $637 million from 2013 to 2014, but six companies accounted for more than three-quarters of the fall. Forty-two companies increased their giving by a total of $60.8 million, and average donations increased.

In the United States, businesses increased giving by 12 percent in 2014, according to "Giving USA."
