Eileen Briggs has been named nation-building portfolio director, overseeing the foundation’s efforts to invest in work that promotes, supports, and strengthens tribal governance among the 23 Native American nations it serves.
Ms. Briggs, executive director of Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Ventures, will join the foundation in October. Earlier this year, she was one of 24 people selected to receive a 2016 Bush Fellowship. The program provides grants of up to $100,000 to help people pursue the education and experiences they need to become more effective community leaders.
Sheri and Les Biller Family Foundation
Mark F. Dederer was named executive director of the Seattle-based foundation. He previously worked at Wells Fargo as senior vice president and program manager for community affairs, overseeing the company’s philanthropic activities in Washington state, Oregon, and Alaska.
Tracie Hall, deputy commissioner of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, was named director for the foundation’s culture program.
University of California at Irvine
Brian Hervey, who has served since November as interim vice chancellor for university advancement, has been named to position permanently.

Charles Fields, senior program manager for the California Endowment, was named chief of staff and planning at the James Irvine Foundation.
Brad Harris was named vice president, chief development officer at Arizona Women’s Education & Employment. He previously served as senior philanthropic adviser at the Arizona Community Foundation.
Katie Murray, director of data and evaluation at Ready to Learn Providence, was appointed director of evaluation and learning at the Rhode Island Foundation.
Robert Rosenthal, chief information officer at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, was named director of information technology at the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
