Calif. Foundation Pledges $225-Million to Support Obama Health Plan

The California Endowment will spend $225-million over the next four years to help implement the Affordable Care Act across the state, reports the Sacramento Business Journal.

The health-focused foundation will mix local and statewide grants in support of the federal reform program, widely known as Obamacare, linking the effort to its existing Building Healthy Communities plan to improve care in underserved areas.

The new money will support efforts to boost enrollment in the state's Medi-Cal program and other insurance plans, increase the primary-care work force, change care delivery to control costs, and provide more consistent care for immigrants who are in the country illegally, who are excluded from Obamacare benefits.
