The Prostate Cancer Foundation has returned donations raised in connection to the leak of nude celebrity photographs on the social network Reddit, writes The Washington Post.
A Reddit user started the fundraiser with a post in the same group that was set up to disseminate and view the hacked pictures. The post suggested that the gifts should be made "in honor of" Jennifer Lawrence, one of the actresses victimized by the leak. In a statement rejecting the funds, the Prostate Cancer Foundation said, "We would never condone raising funds for cancer research in this manner."
A spokeswoman for the organization told The Chronicle that donations from the campaign topped $8,000 and came from 417 donors.
