Carnegie Mellon U. Gets $35-Million Gift From Indian Company

The donation from Information-technology firm Tata Consultancy Services will fund a research and education building on the Pittsburgh campus, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and The Times of India report.

The 40,000-square-foot structure, part of a major expansion of the Pittsburgh campus, will be named for the consulting firm, an arm of Indian industrial conglomerate Tata Group with operations in 46 countries and a significant U.S. presence. The firm will place a small group of employees at the center to collaborate with Carnegie Mellon students. The gift, announced Tuesday, will also support scholarships and fellowships.
