Colbert to Fulfill All S.C. School Requests on DonorsChoose

Comedian Stephen Colbert said Thursday that he will fully finance all the grant requests that public-school teachers in his native state of South Carolina have posted on education crowdfunding site DonorsChoose.org, the Greenville News reports.

Using proceeds from the sale of the set of his former television show, "The Colbert Report," Mr. Colbert teamed up with the Morgridge Family Foundation and ScanSource, a Greenville, S.C.-based distributor of specialty technology projects, to cover the $800,000 cost of nearly 1,000 projects and purchases ranging from books and classroom supplies to professional training for teachers. "Enjoy your learning, South Carolina," he said in announcing the contribution at a DonorsChoose conference in New York.
