Court Stops Construction of Diller’s $130 Million N.Y. Park

A New York State appeals court has ordered a temporary halt to work on the $130 million park along the Hudson River backed by billionaire media mogul Barry Diller, writes The New York Times. The court granted a preliminary injunction Thursday to City Club of New York, a civic organization that is seeking a new environmental review of the Pier 55 project.

Mr. Diller has pledged most of the financing https://philanthropy.com/article/Media-Mogul-Diller-Commits/224101 for Pier 55, a complex of recreational areas and performance spaces to be built on a pier jutting into the river in Lower Manhattan. Preliminary work on the project began in June. A state Supreme Court justice dismissed the City Club’s suit opposing the park in April; the organization sought the injunction to block further work while it appeals that ruling.
