DePauw University alumnus and trustee Don Daseke and his wife, Barbara, announced a gift of $20 million to the college Thursday that will go in part toward helping needy students, according to the Indianapolis Star. Among other programs, the donation will support the DePauw Trust, the Greencastle, Ind., institution's endowment for needs-based student support.
Mr. Daseke, who graduated from DePauw in 1961 with a degree in economics, owns a trucking company that bears his name. His gift pushes the university to within $14 million of the $300 million goal of a fundraising campaign publicly launched in 2014 and aimed at improving affordability, access, and career preparation and funding building renovations. Nearly a quarter of the commitments to date will benefit the DePauw trust.
