DiCaprio Announces New $15 Million Round of Green Grants

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio announced $15 million in new funding for environmental and conservation efforts and ripped "corporate greed" in the energy industry in a speech Tuesday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the Associated Press and Variety report.

Accepting an award for his work on climate issues, the Oscar nominee said coal, oil, and gas firms have contributed to the warming crisis, adding, "History will place the blame for this devastation squarely at their feet." Mr. DiCaprio said in September that he and namesake foundation will divest their fossil-fuel holdings.

The $15 million in grants follows a similar round the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation made six months ago and includes support to protect Sumatran rainforest from palm-oil harvesting, among other projects.
