Doctors Without Borders Plans Rescue Mission for Migrants at Sea

Doctors Without Borders and Migrant Offshore Aid Station, a humanitarian search and rescue operation, plan to launch a mission to save migrants trying to reach Europe by boat in the Mediterranean Sea, BBC reports.

The global medical charity will operate a ship equipped with two doctors and a nurse from May to October, when thousands of migrants are expected to attempt the dangerous journey.

According to the report, an estimated 3,400 migrants died while trying to reach Europe by boat last year.
