Donor Leaves $20-Million Endowment to N.C. Community Fund

A North Carolina philanthropist who died in September at age 97 left a $20-million endowment to be administered by the North Carolina Community Foundation, Triangle Business Journal writes.

Louise Oriole Burevitch had long worked with the Raleigh-based foundation, focusing her philanthropy on animal welfare, education, and programs for women and children, said Beth Boney Jenkins, the fund's vice president of development. The $191-million foundation sustains 1,200 endowments and has awarded $89-million in grants since its inception in 1988.
