Donors Fail to Deliver $1.9 Billion for Ebola Outbreak

The British-based charity Oxfam says that international donors have not come through with $1.9 billion of the money promised to help countries recover from the Ebola epidemic, The New York Times reports. Another $3.9 billion in pledges has proven difficult to track because of a lack of information and transparency.

The pledges were made in conjunction with a special International Ebola Recovery Conference last July, with the goal of helping rebuild health systems in hard-hit West African countries including Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. The outbreak killed more than 11,000 people.
