Ex-Executive at Colo. Health Nonprofit Jailed for $500,000 Theft

The former chief financial officer at a Colorado home-health-care charity was sentenced to six years in prison last week for embezzling more than half a million dollars from the organization, The Coloradan writes.

Timothy Lee Brown pleaded guilty Wednesday to felony theft from the Greeley-based Rehabilitation and Visiting Nurse Association. An arrest affidavit states that he pocketed nearly $519,000 from 2002 to 2012 through hundreds of payroll advance checks and unauthorized charges on company credit cards.

Mr. Brown was fired in March 2012 after confessing. He was charged nine months later. According to the affidavit he had repaid more than $335,000 before his arrest.
