Facebook Rolls Out 'Donate' Button for All Charities

Facebook announced Monday that it is making its "donate now" button available to all nonprofits to use on their Facebook pages and linked advertisements, TechCrunch and Adweek report.

"Every day, people use Facebook to raise awareness and support for causes they care about and to motivate others to do the same. We're inspired by how much good comes from these connections," the company said in rolling out the new feature widely.

The social-media giant has used the donate button in response to recent natural disasters and began testing it with select partner charities in late 2013. For partner groups, the button allows users to donate directly by providing payment information within Facebook; for other organizations, users are redirected to the charity's own website after a pop-up stating that the group is not endorsed by or affiliated with Facebook.
