Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg Was Year's Biggest Tech Donor

Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg's $498.8-million donation to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation made him the technology sector's most generous philanthropist in 2012, says The Wall Street Journal. Mr. Zuckerberg gave the foundation 18 million shares in the social-media firm a week before Christmas.

Pierre Omidyar, founder of eBay and social-investment entity the Omidyar Network, ranked second, giving away $441.3-million of eBay stock during the year. He was followed by Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, who donated $222.9 million and $185.6 million, respectively.
