Football-Coach Endowment Part of $35 Million Notre Dame Gift

A University of Notre Dame alumnus has given his alma mater $35 million, a portion of which will endow the school's football coaching position, the South Bend Tribune writes. The donation from real-estate executive Richard Corbett includes $25 million for a new anthropology, psychology, and digital-media building on the South Bend, Ind., campus, and $10 million to establish the post of Corbett Family Head Football Coach.

A 1960 Notre Dame graduate, Mr. Corbett was later associated with the Kennedy family, working in John F. Kennedy's White House then serving as the family's financial manager in New York and as business manager of Robert F. Kennedy's 1968 presidential campaign. He now heads Concorde Companies, a real estate investment firm in Tampa, Fla.
