Hillary Clinton Team Takes Offensive on Foundation Coverage

Aides to Hillary Clinton issued a set of talking points Monday to encourage allies to push back against critical news articles about the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation, Bloomberg and The New York Times write. Recent coverage of the former first family's philanthropy has focused on alleged internal tensions at the foundation and its fundraising from foreign governments, which critics say could present conflicts of interest if Ms. Clinton runs for president.

As first reported by Capital New York, an email circulated by Nick Merrill, Ms. Clinton's spokesman, calls on backers to emphasize that the foundation "is a philanthropy, period" and donations from foreign governments help fund "groundbreaking, life-changing work around the globe" on HIV/AIDS, climate change, and other causes.
