ISIS Hostage’s Family Says President Broke Donation Promise

The parents of a young woman killed in captivity last year by Islamic State militants tell ABC News that President Obama has failed to make a pledged donation to a foundation they established in her name.

Kayla Mueller, a 26-year-old aid worker, was executed in February 2015, 18 months after she was kidnapped in Syria by members of the jihadist group, also known as ISIS. Carl and Marsha Mueller, in an interview aired Friday on Good Morning America, recount a meeting with the president a month after her death in which he promised to make an “anonymous donation” to their Kayla’s Hands charity.

The Mueller said the foundation has received no anonymous gifts in the 17 months since. “I’m still waiting for that donation, Mr. President,” Carl Mueller said. The White House confirmed that the president has not yet fulfilled the pledge but said he still intends to do so.
