Butler University in Indianapolis will rename its business school for Andre Lacy in honor of a $25 million gift from the local philanthropist and civic leader, reports the Indianapolis Star. The donor, chairman of diversified holding company LDI Ltd., has served as a mentor to Butler business students for a decade and will be a senior adviser to the Andre B. Lacy School of Business.
Mr. Lacy has held leadership roles with a number of major area institutions, including the Indiana State Fair Commission and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He touted the Butler business school's focus on experiential learning and its emphasis on small businesses and family-owned, multigenerational firms like his own, which grew from a cardboard-box maker co-founded more than a century ago by his grandfather.
