Indianapolis Museum Gets Valuable Art Bequest From NFL Owner

The late Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams has left a collection of art and artifacts valued in the tens of millions of dollars to the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, writes the Indianapolis Star. The trove includes paintings by Frederic Remington, Thomas Moran, and N.C. Wyeth and Native American artifacts up to 1,500 years old.

Mr. Adams, the son of a Texas oil tycoon and one of the founding American Football League franchise owners, willed the collection to the Eiteljorg upon his death in October 2013, but the gift was not publicly announced until a gala last weekend. In the interim, museum staff have been transporting and cataloging the about 400 items, with a major exhibition planned for November 2016 through January 2017.
