Koret Foundation Gives $50 Million to 12 California Colleges

The Koret Foundation announced $50 million in grants to support scholarships, research, medical programs, and a variety of other projects at 12 Northern California colleges, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

The largest of awards, to be doled out over five years, were $11 million to University of California at Berkeley to launch an undergraduate research program and support research at its planned new campus and $10 million to Stanford University for its Koret Young Israeli Scholars program and a new neuroscience-research complex.

Other grantees include the University of California at San Francisco, the University of San Francisco, San Jose State, Sonoma State, the University of California at Santa Cruz, Santa Clara University, San Francisco State University, Notre Dame de Namur, and City College of San Francisco.
