Land Trust Alliance and LA84 Foundation Get New Leaders

Land Trust Alliance

Andrew Bowman will lead the Land Trust Alliance as president. He is currently program director of environment at the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, where he has worked for 10 years.

During that time, Mr. Bowman has secured and developed more than $100 million in grants and has helped produce programs to diversify the conservation work force, reconcile the needs of wildlife with renewable-energy development on public and private lands, and build a sustainable agriculture system in the greater New York area.

He starts his new job on February 10.

Alliance for International Exchange

Ilir Zherka, executive director of the National Conference on Citizenship, will be executive director.

Craig Van Dyck, former vice president for content management, was appointed executive director.

Idaho Community Foundation

Karen Bilowith, chief executive of the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region, will be chief executive.

Includenyc

Barbara Glassman, former managing director of external engagement at Citizen School, an education nonprofit, was appointed executive director.

LA84 Foundation

Renata Simril, senior vice president and chief of staff at the Los Angeles Times, will be chief executive.

National Brain Tumor Society

David Arons, interim chief executive, will be chief executive.

National Human Services Assembly

Irv Katz, former chief executive, will serve as interim chief executive. Gloria Johnson-Cusack has resigned from the leadership post.

Stars Foundation

David McMurtry, senior vice president for strategy at Habitat for Humanity International, will be chief executive of the foundation, which is the philanthropic arm of the Al-Dabbagh Group.

Synergos

Don Mohanlal, former executive director for innovation and impact at the National 4-H Council, was named chief executive.

Other notable changes:

Heather Campion, chief executive of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, has resigned.

Iris Chen, executive director of the Fund for Public Schools, has resigned.

Sheila Kelly, former senior vice president for development at the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, was appointed chief development officer at Sesame Workshop.

Lois Witkop, former senior vice president for marketing communications at the American Diabetes Association, was appointed chief advancement officer at Food Allergy Research & Education.

Legacies:

David Cohen, a former president of the government watchdog group Common Cause, died from a heart attack on November 29. He was 79.
