Louisville Food-Charity Founder Sentenced for Stealing

Hugh "Stan" Curtis received a two-year jail sentence for stealing more than $180,000 from his now-shuttered charity, USA Harvest, The Courier-Journal reports.

USA Harvest, which once had more than 130 chapters, according to its website, delivered leftover food from restaurants and other businesses to the needy. Described by the paper as a "philanthropic superstar," Mr. Curtis received accolades from Bill Clinton and the Rev. Norman Vincent Peale for his charitable work.

He pleaded guilty to charges in June.
