Major Media Among Big Contributors to Clinton Foundation

More than a dozen big news and digital entities or individuals connected to them have made donations to the Clinton Foundation in recent years, according to a Politico review of the charity's fundraising records.

The biggest media donors, giving between $1 million and $5 million, are conservative outlet Newsmax; telecommunications billionaire Carlos Slim, the largest shareholder in The New York Times; James Murdoch, chief operating officer of 21st Century Fox, the corporate parent of Fox News; and Thomson Reuters, which owns the Reuters news service.

Mass-media giants like Comcast, Time Warner, and Viacom and charitable organizations linked to news outlets, such as Bloomberg Philanthropies and the News Corporation Foundation, have also made donations ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars. ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos has come under fire for failing to disclose to viewers his $75,000 in gifts to the foundation when reporting on the Clintons and their charity.
