N.J. Superstorm Charity May Become Permanent

A charity formed eight weeks ago to provide relief after Hurricane Sandy is now considering becoming a permanent relief organization, reports the Red Bank Green, of New Jersey.

RebuildRecover, a group formed by six friends in their 20s, has raised $75,000 toward its goal of helping people in the state get emergency supplies and return home. The group has also facilitated $125,000 worth of third-party support.

The organization has garnered national attention, including from Jon Stewart, who brought the group a van loaded with supplies three days after the group started.

Said Mr. Stewart: “These young guys put together this group, and it sort of came up virally, and it was boots-on-the-ground, real change for people that needed it in a way that is incredibly inspirational to me."
