Kinsey Wilson, NPR's chief content officer and the architect of its digital strategy, is leaving the public radio network at the end of this week and will not be replaced, writes The New York Times. Digital operations will come under the purview of Loren Mayor, NPR's senior vice president for strategy, who was promoted to the new position of chief operating officer.
Mr. Wilson led development of the NPR One app and other efforts to beef up the nonprofit broadcaster's online and mobile presence, but some local member stations raised fears that donations would drop if audiences migrate to digital platforms. CEO Jarl Mohn praised Mr. Wilson's work and said the network will "continue to move in that direction" but that quality of content would be its main focus.
