N.Y. Attorney General Settles With Company That Collects Used Clothing

The New York Attorney General's office has reached a settlement with a for-profit company that was collecting clothing donations using the names of two charities but allegedly did not donate anything to them, reports New York station WNYC.

The Yonkers, N.Y.-based Thrift Land USA used the names of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rockland County and I Love Our Youth on its collection bins. Under the settlement, the company will pay $650,000 to the two charities, remove their names from its bins, and disclose on the bins that donations are not intended for charity.
