New Top Fundraiser at Lurie Children’s Hospital; AFP Chief Resigns

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago

Grant Stirling has been appointed executive vice president and chief development officer for the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Foundation. He starts on August 1.

Mr. Stirling is chief development officer at the SickKids Foundation, the fundraising arm of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. He previously managed fundraising programs at the University of Western Ontario.

Association of Fundraising Professionals

Andrew Watt stepped down as chief executive after leading the association for five years.

Mr. Watt joined the organization in 2006 as vice president for international development and also served as chief program officer before becoming CEO. Jason Lee, the association’s general counsel, will be interim chief executive.

Island Conservation

Karen Poiani, former director of evaluation and learning at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, was appointed chief executive.

National Philharmonic at Strathmore

Leanne Ferfolia was promoted to president after serving as the organization’s vice president and director of development.

Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation

Amber Slichta, former vice president and interim president of the Health Foundation of Western & Central New York, was named vice president of programs; James Boyle, former senior program officer for the Community Foundation of Southeast Michigan, will be vice president of programs and communication; and Maura Dewan, former foundation coordinator in the governor of Michigan’s Office of Foundation Liaison, will be director of programs and strategy.

Other notable appointments and departures:

Tosha Connors, director of development at Little Sisters of the Assumption Family Health Service, was appointed director of development at All About Developmental Disabilities.

Ann McElwain, executive director of leadership giving at Dartmouth College, will be chief development officer at the Carnegie Institution for Science.

Chris Orndorff, senior portfolio manager at Western Asset Management, was named chief investment officer at Vulcan.

Steve Delfin, chief executive of America’s Charities, has resigned. James Starr, chief operating officer and chief business development officer for the organization, will be interim CEO.
