The 50-year-old Mr. Benioff and his wife, Lynne, gave most of their charitable dollars to the University of California at San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital. They donated three gifts to that institution in 2014. The biggest was a $100-million pledge to strengthen research and clinical care at both the San Francisco medical center and it’s affiliate, University of California at San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland.
The couple also pledged $50-million to the hospitals to fight the biological, behavioral, and social factors related to premature births as well as $3.5-million to support a program to teach new parents the importance of talking regularly to their infants and toddlers.
The Benioffs previously gave the hospital $100-million in 2010.
They also gave $500,000 to the California Endowment for legal representation, trauma counseling, and other services for unaccompanied children in California who have emigrated from Central American countries.
