Official at Charity Tied to L.A. Sheriff Is Fired Amid Marijuana Inquiry

A development director at a youth charity run by Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca was fired after federal authorities searched her home in an inquiry into her husband's marijuana dispensaries, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Dawn Zamudio was relieved of her duties at the Sheriff's Youth Foundation, which raises money for youth charities across the county, earlier this week after federal officials said her husband, Ramiro Zamudio, had been running two marijuana dispensaries. Mr. Baca has been a vocal critic of such businesses.

Agents are examining what has been seized to determine whether to file charges.

The Times was unable to reach the couple for comment.
