Philadelphia Museum Gets $10 Million and Modern-Art Trove

A Pennsylvania art collector who died last year has left 50 modernist artworks, including a significant late-period Edward Hopper painting, and $10 million in endowment funds to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, reports The Philadelphia Inquirer. The monetary portion of the bequest from Daniel W. Dietrich II, an heir to the family business that once produced Luden's cough drops and a longtime backer of the museum, will support a wide range of curatorial programs in contemporary art.
