Philanthropist Ernest Rady gave $100 million to University of California San Diego's business school, U-T San Diego reports.
Mr. Rady's $30 million contribution a decade ago helped create the Rady School of Management. The gift, announced Tuesday, will help to more than double the size of its faculty and to offer more financial assistance to students.
Mr. Rady and his wife, Evelyn, ranked No. 17 on The Chronicle's 2015 list of the most generous donors. The couple gave $121 million in 2014, the majority of that going toward Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego.
Mr. Rady's contribution to UC San Diego is the first major gift in the university's campaign to raise $2 billion in private donations.
