Powell Jobs Heads Magazine’s List of Philanthropy Leaders

Town & Country named its top 50 philanthropists of 2016, citing celebrities, tech moguls, nonprofit leaders, and others the wealth and lifestyle magazine says “are using money, influence, and family name to change the game in big ways.” Co-ranked No. 1 are Laurene Powell Jobs and Russlynn Ali, respectively the donor to and CEO of XQ: the Super School Project, a $50 million effort to rethink American high schools.

Also among the top 10 are investor Nicolas Berggruen, who is putting $500 million into a California center for philosophy and intellectual discourse on global problems; former first daughter Barbara Bush, who is developing a Teach for America-style corps to improve global health; Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan, for pledging most of their Facebook fortune to work on social causes; and comedian and schools advocate Stephen Colbert.
