Princeton Endowment Returns Best Yale's and Harvard's

Princeton University's endowment gained 12.7 percent on investments for the year ended June 30, beating Ivy League peers that have reported results so far and vaulting the New Jersey institution into fourth place among U.S. college funds, Bloomberg reports.

The overall value of Princeton's endowment grew by about 8 percent to $22.7 billion, passing Stanford University's $22.2 billion. Harvard and Yale last month reported fiscal 2015 investment returns of 5.8 percent and 11.5 percent, respectively. The median gain this year for endowments and foundations with more than $500 million in assets is 3.6 percent, the Wilshire Trust Universe Comparison Service estimates.
