Raymond Perelman Gives $50-Million to Philadelphia Hospital

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is to announce a $50-million donation Wednesday from Raymond G. Perelman, one of the city's most active philanthropists, reports The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The hospital will name an eight-acre portion of its campus for Mr. Perelman, whose gift will establish a research fund, scholarships, and an endowed chair in pediatric ophthalmology, among other uses. The donation brings the 97-year-old billionaire businessman's giving in the Philadelphia region to $339-million, including a $225-million donation to the University of Pennsylvania medical school in 2011.
