Safra Fund Gives $30 Million for Brain Center at Hebrew U.

The Edmond J. Safra Philanthropic Foundation has donated $30 million to a center for brain research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, reports Jspace News. The grant brings to $50 million the foundation's giving for the Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences, which brings together leading researchers to forge new approaches to neuroscience.

The foundation, established by the late banker Edmond J. Safra, is a longtime donor to Hebrew University, contributing $50 million in 2000 for capital improvements and scientific equipment and $20 million five years ago for the neuroscience center.
