September Opening Set for New Broad Museum in L.A.

Arts patrons Eli and Edythe Broad announced Thursday that the Broad, the downtown Los Angeles showcase for their exhaustive collection of contemporary art, will open on Sept. 20, the Los Angeles Times reports. The museum's projected launch, initially pegged for late 2013 when its design was unveiled in January 2011, has been pushed back twice by construction issues and a dispute with a key contractor on the project.

The Broads also announced a one-day sneak preview Feb. 15, for which tickets will cost $10. Upon opening, the museum will have free entry for its main exhibition, encompassing works by Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly, and other key post-World War II artists from among some 2,000 pieces collected by the couple.
